Licking bucket

During the grazing season, maintaining adequate mineral and trace element intake is essential for healthy livestock, as nutrient levels in fresh grass can vary widely. RumiBloc is the ideal mineral lick bucket for this season, providing a high dose of magnesium. These buckets offer a convenient solution for supplementing cattle’s nutritional needs in situations where feed-based supplementation is less practical, such as in pasture settings or for specific groups like dry cows and heifers. Made from molasses, RumiBloc buckets are enriched with essential nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, trace elements, yeasts, essential oils, and herbs. Cattle can lick as needed, helping to address deficiencies and improve overall health. Additionally, licking stimulates saliva production, supporting rumen function and digestion.

Challenge During the grazing season, the quality and composition of grass can vary significantly, impacting cattle’s absorption of essential nutrients. Magnesium is a particularly important mineral that is often deficient, especially in cool temperatures or wet grass. Since cattle cannot store magnesium, they must consume it daily. A deficiency in magnesium can lead to health issues such as grass tetany, which negatively affects cattle health and productivity.

Solution RumiBloc licking buckets offer a practical and palatable way to supplement any deficiencies in the diet of cattle, especially during the grazing season. The extra licking stimulates saliva production, which supports digestion and stabilizes rumen pH. Offering the basic RumiBloc licking bucket at pasture allows cattle to proactively supplement their magnesium and other nutritional needs. This promotes cattle well-being and performance, which is essential for a healthy herd.

Minerals Properties of magnesium

  • Magnesium is an essential mineral for cattle. Low temperatures in spring and autumn reduce the levels of magnesium and calcium in grass.
Magnesium deficiency can also occur in cattle if the grass is high in moisture. This is because the high water content of grass speeds up digestion, leaving less time for the absorption of important minerals such as magnesium. Cows are unable to store magnesium, so they need to get enough magnesium daily through their rations. Magnesium deficiency can lead to health problems such as grass sickness (grass staggers or grass tetany) which can have serious consequences for the health and productivity of cattle.
